I am so grateful to have the opportunity to direct another Principia
Abroad to Japan. This program enables me to share my love, appreciation,
and knowledge of Japan with students who are eager to experience the
unique blend of East and West which constitutes Japan. This is an
exciting time to be visiting Japan as the country determines how to
respond to the economic challenges it faces. How are traditional aspects
of Japanese business and society changing? Is Japan experiencing an
historical turning point similar to its emergence as a world economic
power after WWII? The students will grapple with these questions as
they experience first hand the history, culture, language, business
and society of Japan. My hope is that they leave Japan with a greater
appreciation of its deep cultural traditions, its warmth and hospitality,
its importance as a world power, and, most importantly, with a desire
to return someday to the Land of the Rising Sun. |
