The purpose of this program is to provide students with an extended cross-cultural experience in France, with an improved language proficiency, a better understanding of the culture and society of France, and an opportunity to develop spiritual qualities, so as to serve the cause of Christian Science.
The academic purpose of this program will be supported by language courses provided in France to help the student sharpen speaking, writing, reading, and comprehension skills. The courses offered on this program will also help the students increase their understanding of French culture. This abroad experience will promote individual spiritual growth, generally broaden horizons, and promote global awareness, and a desire to contribute to the healing of national and world problems.
Academic Studies
This program offers 15 QH of academic coursework. All participants will take FREN or SOC 220 for 5 QH and then 10 QH of French language. Beginning and intermediate students will take FR130 for 5 QH and FR230 for 5QH or FR230 for 10 QH while the more advanced students will take FR230 for 5QH and FR330 for 5QH

An analysis of contemporary French society. Selected topics for discussions on French history, culture, and contemporary issues will be examined by the students in the group and with interaction with the French families and instructors. French history and contemporary French society will also be examined in conjunction with specific visits to museums and other excursions. To earn French credit, work must be done in French.
