One of the best ways to prepare for life after graduation is by participating in an internship. Through an internship, you can:
Develop practical experience in a field.
- Explore a potential career direction.
- Fulfill a graduation requirement - for some majors.
- Expand your list of career contacts.
- Improve your job prospects after graduation.
There are two types of internships available to Principia students, academic internships and non-academic internships. Both are valuable experiences, however, the academic internship, for credit, has different requirements than the non-academic internship, not for credit.
However, all internships (academic and non-academic) should meet the following criteria:
- The intern is professionally supervised at the company or organization.
- The internship will be a new learning experience not a repetition of a previous job.
- The intern has a deliberate learning agenda that can be accomplished by a learning contract or a similar process.
