Academic and Career Advising (ACA) offers a variety of programs and workshops throughout the year.

Career Conference

Career Conference is a three day career training program offered to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It takes place on the Principia College campus immediately following fall quarter. For the exact dates call or stop by ACA.

Key presenter is a nationally recognized speaker/writer of careers and job search issues. Sessions will include such topics as:

  • Self-assessment
  • Developing a personal statement
  • Career strategies
  • Life-After-Graduation Skills
  • Job search strategies
  • Getting your foot in the door
  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Graduate / Law school information
  • Etiquette dinner & training
  • Interview training:
    • Typical interview questions
    • What to wear
    • Taped mock interview and review

Evening Events

Workshops on various career related topics are held throughout the academic quarter. Workshop topics include:

Job Fairs

Job Fairs are a great way to explore employment possibilities and gain confidence in presenting yourself to employers and responding to their questions. Contact ACA for dates, times and transportation arrangements to and from these events. Some important steps for a successful job fair are to:

  • Have a polished resume;
  • Be able to introduce yourself confidently, with a thoughtful and succinct response to company representatives;
  • Understand “how to work” a job fair.
