ECON 203:  Principles of Microeconomics

Material and skills covered:

This is an introductory survey of concepts, which may be used to analyze the economic behavior of individual decision-makers, such as consumers, and business firms, or litterers.  The optimizing behavior of these individuals is of great importance to anyone interested in the social sciences, in government, in environmental and social welfare issues, and in business-related fields such as management and marketing.

 

Methods used:

Teaching methods include both small-group discussion and lectures.  Audio-visual material and current news-items will be used to supplement the text.

 

Grade determined by:

In-class quizzes                                           25%

Daily class participation                              10%

Three class examinations                          50%

Final examination                                       15%

 

Attendance Policy:

Class attendance is not required, but strongly recommended. 10% of the student’s grade is based on daily class participation. It is hard to participate if you are not there.
