HIST 202: American Revolution

Material and skills covered:
This course will focus on the late colonial period, the revolutionary war, and the emerging republic. Attention will be paid to the international context as well as to domestic developments in the Thirteen Colonies and new United States of America.
You will work on developing your ability to analyze complex issues and draw your own conclusions about events relating to those issues.
Methods used:
Class discussion of excellent readings, occasional brief instructor lectures and student presentations, some use of videos and other materials
Grade determined by:
Class participation and support (25%), mid-quarter exam and short written pieces (25%), final exam (25%), research paper (25%)
Attendance policy:
More than three unexcused absences or repeated lateness will adversely affect class participation and support grade.
