THEA 201:  Acting II

Instructor:  Trish Brown

Prerequisites: THEA 101

Material and skills covered:

This course will continue to build on the acting technique begun in Acting I, further developing the actor’s creative process.  We will expand upon the ideas of objective, action, obstacle, imagination, concentration and ensemble.  Audition techniques and monologue presentation skills will also be a large part of the class work.

Methods used:

There will be some text analysis, basic scene work, monologue work, improvisation, and exercises designed to bring the student actor to scene performance level.

Grade determined by:

The grade will be based on class participation, progress reports, text analysis assignments, character analyses, presentations, and a final classroom performance.

Attendance policy:

Attendance is required at all class sessions. Every student is expected to be present and on time. I ask that any absences for reasons other than illness or emergencies be discussed with me in advance of the missed class session.  Unexcused absences and late arrivals will result in the lowering of the final grade.
