Biology at Principia is ecologically based, and we emphasize a field-based educational program, utilizing our 2,600 acre campus, international travel, and internships. Students are given a strong ecological basis for understanding how ecosystems function and understanding people's relationship to other living creatures. The environmental science program is a science-based interdisciplinary course of study. Students have an opportunity to focus their studies on better understanding the natural environment, especially the interface of people in the environment, and to work toward resolving environmental problems. The foundation of the program is in biology with support classes in earth science, chemistry, and other math and science courses.
