Academic Programs

Principia College has two programs for international students:

  • A four-year Degree Program leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree
  • A one-year Enrichment Program for non-degree-seeking students
Degree Program

For those students who desire a degree from Principia, we offer the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences Degree Programs.

International students follow the same academic program as other Principia students, and course selection is based on general degree requirements and the student's area of interest. More information can be found in the course catalog, available on this website.

It should be noted that Principia does not offer Master's or other graduate degrees, nor does its curriculum include remedial academic courses.

Enrichment Program

This program allows students to experience Principia's learning environment but not pursue a degree. The program begins in August and ends in June and includes nine ten-week courses over three terms. Students are encouraged to take a variety of courses during the year — some courses recommended by academic advisors, others of the student's choosing.

There are generally two types of students who choose the one-year program:

  • those have recently completed secondary school and want to have a different educational and cultural experience before they enter university in their own country;
  • those who already have an undergraduate degree.  (If you already have a degree and plan to apply for financial aid, you may only apply for the one-year program).

Although One-Year Enrichment students receive Principia academic credit for the courses taken, there is no provision to transfer these credits to other institutions in the United States. International applicants who have already earned a Bachelor's degree or will have earned a degree by the time they begin one of Principia's programs, or who are married or have children, may only apply for the one-year Enrichment Program.
