China has always been an ambiguous country to me. I am grateful to have the opportunity to experience their culture first hand. I know Mongolia will also be an amazing experience, both because it is so untouched by Westernization and because it is one of the newest democracies. I hope to completely break any past limits set on myself or others during this abroad. I plan on forming many new and beautiful friendships during this abroad, especially since I plan to have a special "moment" with everyone in our group.
Specifically on this abroad I want to gain a better understanding of the status of women in China. Since my discipline is Political Science, I am interested in focusing on women in politics also. I also hope to learn more about Chinese Communism, art, and religion while in China. Something else I am looking forward to is witnessing the new democratic system in Mongolia.
Hellos: I want to thank my mom for allowing me to go on this trip, and helping to support it. I also want to send lots of love to the rest of my family specifically for their unconditional love and enthusiasm (including Aspen!). Gin, don't have too much fun while I am away. All my friends, I miss you dearly and will think of you often. I know my lessons learned on the abroad will enrich each and every relationship.
