B.A., Principia College
M.F.A., Directing, Chicago Conservatory of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University

Trish has been a faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Dance since fall of 2000. Before moving to St. Louis to marry her husband, Bob Schmit, Trish lived, worked, and completed her M.F.A. in Chicago. During those years as a professional freelance director, actress, and theatre instructor, Trish worked for the Ivanhoe Theatre, Northbrook Theatre, Hinsdale Center for the Arts, Brickton Arts Center, Village Players Theatre School, and Moves Performing Arts Studio. She was also selected by the Illinois Arts Council to work with local area schools as an Artist in Residence.

It was in Chicago that Trish first developed her love of and respect for movement-based actor training. Working with her mentor, Dawn Arnold, Trish studied the Michael Chekhov technique, the Viewpoints of Anne Bogart, and the Rudolf Laban technique. In June of 1997 Trish was proud to be a founding member of The Moving Dock Theatre Company, a company dedicated to the vocal and physical creative process of the actor. Trish assistant-directed one Moving Dock production, Gallway Bay, and returns to Chicago regularly to support the work of the Moving Dock as a board member.

While at Principia, Trish has taught Acting, Oral Interpretation, Voice and Speech, Movement and Directing. She also re-introduced the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival program to the Department of Theatre and Dance and has loved representing Principia by taking students to the competition yearly since 2002.
