B.S., Principia College
M.S., Ph.D., University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana

Jeffrey Cornelius became a member of Principia's faculty in 1989. Before returning to Principia to teach, Dr. Cornelius was a Belfer fellow at the Biotechnology Resource in Pulsed Electron Spin Resonance at Albert Einstein College. He has spent the summers as a visiting research associate at the University of Illinois through a grant from the Petroleum Research Fund of the American Chemical Society. His graduate research interests were in physical chemistry, specifically molecular structure determination using novel electron paramagnetic resonance techniques. He has worked with students at Principia on environmental chemistry research projects such as monitoring bioremediation of diesel contaminated soil, determining mercury levels in fish and water sites and indoor air quality. While a student at Principia, he spent summers working at Ashland Oil and was a co-op in research at Dow Chemical. He was awarded the Physical Science award for his student research in single crystal polarized spectroscopy with Dr. R. L. Musselman while a student at Principia.
