In 2007 Coach Lee Ellis enters his 12th season at the helm of the Principia College women's soccer program, a member of the NCAA Division III St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).

Since coming to Principia in 1996, Coach Ellis has posted a career record of 145-69-8, has won two SLIAC Championships (1997 and 2004), and has earned Coach of the Year honors in 1997, 1999, 2004 and 2006. In 2004 Ellis led the Panthers into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  For 11 consecutive years his teams have won the prestigious NSCAA Team Academic Award.  In 2006 the team GPA was 3.56/4.0.  The team was also recognized for sportsmanship by the SLIAC Conference and the NSCAA in 2006.

His prior experience includes developing the intercollegiate athletics program at the State University of New York College of Technology, Marcy, N.Y., where he also served at various times as head coach of the men's soccer, women's basketball, and women's softball teams. He also directed the men's soccer program at Utica College, Utica, N.Y.

A frequent participant at coaching clinics and in continuing education courses, Coach Ellis holds a Premier Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and a "B" license from the United States Soccer Federation.

Coach Ellis chairs the SLIAC Women's Soccer Coaches Committee, has served on the NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee, and on the NCAA Central Region Women's Soccer Advisory Committee.

He has earned advanced degrees (Ed.S.; M.S.) in counseling psychology and student development and in business management (M.B.A.).

Coach Ellis holds the rank of associate professor and when not on the soccer pitch teaches a course in Leadership.
