Mike Hamilton, a native of southern California, was appointed to the faculty in 2004. Prior to coming to Principia, he served for 20 years as a U.S. Navy chaplain endorsed by The Mother Church. His assignments included naval training centers, a support ship, a Marine battalion, an overseas assignment at a Naval Air Station in Sicily, and a military prison. For several years he developed training and curriculum for chaplains and their assistants serving with the Marine Corps. Mike worked closely with members of many faiths and gained expertise in management of relief funding and interfaith volunteer supervision. He was selected by the Navy for a year of additional postgraduate study in Social and Christian Ethics in 1996.
