Hilary Harper-Wilcoxen

Hilary Harper-Wilcoxen teaches dance and theatre movement in Principia's Theatre and Dance Department. She also choreographs for and directs the yearly dance production put on by this department, and is currently acting chair. After completing the world-renowned David Howard Teaching Workshop in New York City, Hilary has completed her MFA in Dance studies at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. 

Hilary has worked as a professional dancer for many years performing as a soloist and principal dancer with the Company of American Dance and Ann Marie D'Angelo and Company in New York City; Connecticut Ballet; Ballet Oklahoma, Oklahoma City; and many others. She received her training on both coasts and in Europe, studying at such schools as American Ballet Theater, Martha Graham, Jose Limon and The Geneva Conservatory, and from teachers such as David Howard, Maggie Black, Marina Stavitskaya, Milton Meyers and others. It has been her privilege to work with many wonderful choreographers over the years, including Agnes de Mille, Anna Sokolow, Darrell Barnett, Bo Spassoff, Meg Eginton, Ann Marie D'Angelo, and Christine Dunbar.

She received her B.A. in political science from Columbia University and worked for five years in politics as campaign manager for Congressman Christopher Shays; as director of Development for Stamford Center for the Arts; and for eight years as a resident counselor at Principia College.
