Heidi Snow has been a member of the Principia community since 2002.  Prior to joining the faculty, she taught English composition at Bentley College, worked as an editor for the Christian Science Sentinel, held various writing positions at The Mother Church, and taught adult education courses.  Her scholarly work has taken her to England several times—once to study for three weeks at Oxford College through the Bridgewater master's program and once in the summer of 2002 to attend the two-week long Wordsworth Trust Conference in the Lake District .  At the conference she presented a paper entitled, "Descriptive Sketches: Pastorals, Utilized and Rejected," which stemmed from her master's thesis on Wordsworth's shepherd imagery.  Most recently, her doctoral work at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale  took her back to the Lake District as part of her ongoing exploration of  the relationship between religious theories of the late 18th and early 19th centuries and attitudes towards poverty.  Her doctoral thesis will explore these questions as specifically manifested in William Wordsworth’s writings.  She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society at SIUC.
