Diana Swift joined the faculty in the fall of 2000 to teach French. In 1972, to pursue her Ph.D. at Bryn Mawr College, she went to France to do research on her dissertation on Rabelais and to teach English at the Ecole Normale Supérieure. Little did she imagine that she would stay there for 28 years. During those years she taught English in company training, continuing education, and higher education, and she picked up a couple more degrees in fields related to training. For the past few years she has taught both English and humanities in two French grandes écoles, prestigious engineering and management schools. Her courses ranged from management to African-American culture and literature to contemporary socio-philosophical thought. She continues to be interested in these fields as well as her first love — the evolving French thought and literature from the Renaissance to the birth of democracy, the Enlightenment.
