Athletes not involved in fall sports are encouraged to participate in an off-season training program which includes general fitness conditioning, strength training, and specific technical work on track and field events.
Winter and Spring Break
Track officially starts the first day of winter quarter, with daily practices and a schedule of indoor meets. All team members are encouraged to participate during the indoor season. The winter provides a strong conditioning base for the outdoor season, and the indoor competitions provide a way for athletes to evaluate their training progress.
Spring break is one of the highlights of the season. In 2009, we will be traveling to Memphis, Tennesse. In the past we have traveled to train and compete in Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Spring
The Principia Invitational is in April. The remainder of our schedule includes meets with NCAA Division I, II, and III colleges and universities. The season ends with NCAA Division III national championships. Principia has sent about 50 athletes to the national meet since 1976 with, more than half of them earning All-America honors.
