Administrative Assistant - Facilities Office |
Full-time, 12 month position, beginning ASAP |
Supports and represents the Facilities Department and acts as an information liaison between the Associate Facilities Director, customers, and outside contractors, in a professional manner.
Supports Facilities Administrative staff with clerical duties at the direction of the Associate Director. Design, implement, and administer the department’s electronic files. Prepares meeting agendas, takes notes, and drafts meeting minutes. Drafts correspondence for Director’s approval, sends campus-wide distribution, and phone mail messages. Processes all department purchase orders. Processes the vehicle titling and license renewals. Prepares monthly budget reports and inputs annual operating budget changes. Maintains and updates the Director’s notebooks, project files, and department files.
Prepares PowerPoint presentations and dashboard maintenance. Design, implement, and administer the St. Louis Facilities department quarterly newsletter. Acts as Office Vacation Administrator and backs up the Facilities Office staff during vacation periods, so that: vacation times are coordinated, the office is covered, and business processes continue uninterrupted. This includes:
WebTMA Work Order system, processing and submitting E-Time service employee payroll, processing of department invoices and credit card transactions, maintenance of department personnel files including vacation and sick leave records,general back up for service calls/requests from customers and Supervisors, fleet vehicle reservations, campus heating/AC scheduling, and Best Access key requests, monitoring radio traffic to respond and relay emergency information to shops. Reviews office procedures and processes to optimize customer service and office efficiency, and makes recommendations to the Associate Director. Assists in the development and maintenance of office forms. Assists in maintaining emergency contact information for contractors and employees.
Prepares employee Work Comp accident reports.
Minimum Qualifications: Active Christian Science church membership. Christian Science class instruction preferred. Ability to think critically, to analyze problems, and to be pro-active. Ability to be effective with concurrent tasks under deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with customers, contractors, and supervisors. Expression of Order, Grace, professionalism, dedication, etc. Displays a high level of proficiency and accuracy of data entry (minimum typing speed: 55 wpm). Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel 2007. Ability to think clearly during campus emergencies. Basic knowledge of building maintenance/service industry. Willingness to learn and enhance skills.

After-School Program Director |
Part-time, 3:00 p.m. - 5:45, 20 hours/week, 9 months (during academic school year), beginning late August 2009. |
Plans the after-school program activities. Hires, coordinates, trains, and evaluates student and adult workers. Supervises students after school on the playground and in the After-School Care room. Purchases needed supplies. Hours: 3:00 p.m. until children are picked up—usually by 5:45. Purchasing and accounting functions happen outside of these hours. There is the possibility that this position could also oversee a summer program. Work-Related Expectations: Hires, coordinates, trains, counsels, and evaluates student and adult workers.Plans fun and creative activities for a portion of the program time. Oversees supervision of students during playground, snack, homework, and project times.
Handles student discipline, as needed.
Communicates with parents, as needed. Provides a welcoming tone when they come to the program.
Keeps records and informs Accounting Office of student (child-care) fees. Coordinates the general upkeep and cleanliness of the facilities.
Helps establish a comfortable and productive recreation/learning environment for students.
Arrives at the After-School Care room by 3:00 p.m. to set out supplies and check phone/e-mail messages from parents; students start arriving at 3:20. Stays until all children are picked up—usually by 5:45 p.m. Purchases snacks and needed supplies at other times of the day. Minimum Qualifications: Active Christian Science church membership. Christian Science class instruction preferred. Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
Educational/recreational experience with children.
Alert, creative, responsible, clear thinking, efficient, and organized.
Able to work well with children and adults; good people skills; good computer skills.
Able to maintain an appropriate balance between being loving/patient and making proper demands. NOTE: This position could be combined with the Pre-School Teaching Assistant position presently posted.

Assistant Houseparent, Home Department - Girls' Dorm |
Full-time, nine-month position, beginning August 2009 |
Provides additional adult accessibility to a hall when the full-time houseparent is not available or would provide opportunities for a full-time houseparent to work one-on-one with a student.
Provides office coverage as needed: answering phones, signing students in and out and greeting visitors to the dorm. Reports situations and concerns to houseparent and Residential Head.
Supports students as a resource and guide during evening study hall. Qualifications: Active Christian Science church membership. Christian Science primary class instruction preferred. Experience working with teens. Bachelor's degree.
Effective communication skills. Knowledge and experience working with the internet and email.
Functions effectively with minimum supervision
Flexibility, dependability, promptness. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pre-School Teaching Assistant |
Part-time (8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday), nine-month position, beginning late August 2009 |
Supports the lead teacher as needed. Circulates during lessons and works individually and in small groups with students. Works with students in support of the instructional program. Assists teacher with classroom preparation (i.e. bulletin board displays, cleaning and putting away classroom materials, etc.). Responds to changing conditions and directions with flexibility. Supervises students outside the classroom (e.g., playground, hallways, special classes, pony program, field trips). Assists lead teacher in serving lunch to the children. Prepares photocopies and other materials. Provides clerical support as needed. May act as the classroom teacher if the lead teacher is away.
Assists students on the computer. Attends faculty meetings. Attends In-house and other training opportunities. Minimum Qualifications: Active Christian Science church membership. Christian Science class instruction preferred. Bachelor’s degree early childhood or elementary degree/certification desirable). Experience working with pre-school age children in an educational setting. Computer proficiency.

Uses a variety of teaching methods to effectively explain and demonstrate Spanish language concepts and culture in accordance with the school's curriculum. Leads classes and teaches almost entirely in the language itself. Helps students develop strong critical thinking and communication skills. Provides additional student contact time outside the classroom as either a coach or a club/activity sponsor. Qualifications: Active Christian Science church membership. Christian Science class instruction preferred. Master's degree in Spanish (teacher certification preferred). Documented teaching experience with middle school or high school school students. Able to perform detailed work in pronunciation, practice in basic patterns of grammar, build vocabulary, develop oral skills, teach reading and writing comprehension, and introduce culture and literature.
