Boys' Dorm

The main responsibility of the Boys' Dorm House Parents is to further the Cause of Christian Science by maintaining a homelike atmosphere for as many as 12 boys, establishing and maintaining an academic standard of excellence based on the Whole Man concept, encouraging and fostering each young man's Christian character, and by helping them build a better understanding of their relationships to God.

Pete Maurer - Middle School Boys' Dorm House Parent

For the past twenty-eight years Pete has been engaged in the sale of residential real estate in the Kansas City area. During these years he and his wife Barb have raised three children. Jodie, the youngest, now attends 11th grade at the Upper School. Rebecca, their other daughter, and her husband also reside in St. Louis and have given them two grandchildren. Mark, their oldest child, lives and works in Chicago. Pete’s wife is a career educator and teaches in the Lower School. Working with young people has been a continued interest since the beginning of Pete’s adult years starting with working with the “Big Brothers Organization” and then teaching many years in the Sunday School. As a continued vision of working with young people, the idea came to him to apply his efforts more directly. Out of that interest, the position of housefather has been made available to him. In addition to his dorm responsibilities, he works closely with the Middle School Staff with regards to activities and character education.
