Principia Middle School Physical Education Program

The Middle School Physical Education program is run in conjunction with the Middle School Athletic program. The girl’s facilities are located in the McCalmont Gym and the boy’s in Carey Field House. Classes are held at the end of their school day from 2:40-3:20. Students are given choices each term as to what sport they would like to participate in. They will apply movement concepts; demonstrate skills of the sport as well as life lessons that are included when learning how to be a team member. The educational value most important to our staff is the development of their character through learning how to overcome challenges and break limitations.

Each term P.E./Intramural classes will be offered depending upon enrollment and team offerings.

The P.E. class will be run like an Intramural program that will include physical fitness as well as being taught skills of the sport while also playing games within the class.

We would like students to develop physical skills that will enable them to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle. All students will participate in a swimming unit and track unit. The track unit will conclude with a track meet.
