RUGGERFEST INFORMATION FROM LAST SEASON (2007)

Team and class,

As most of you know, the Thunder Chickens are playing in a tournament in Saint Louis this weekend. These are all of the details I have at this point. All of you are welcome to come to watch. Please note this tournament has both men’s and women’s teams playing.

We will meet at the flagpole at 7:45 on Saturday morning. Feel free to bring breakfast with you. Everyone who has a car should bring it, and we will sort out rides then.

The address of the fields is:
2500 Creve Coeur Mill Road
Saint Louis, MO
This is very close to the Sportport Soccer Complex.

It will likely be raining and very cold on Saturday, so please be prepared! We will be spending most of the day together. We need to be at the fields well before 9:00 am. The last game of the day starts at 4:15, although we may finish before then. There will usually be five games going on at the same time, so during the breaks in our games you will have your choice of other games to watch.

On the first day, Saturday, we will be playing three games, with 20 minute halves. We will not know what times our games will be until 9:00 am on Saturday morning. If we play well enough, there is the potential of playing in the semi-finals or finals on Sunday as well.

Note that there will be ten teams in our division, eight teams in the “premier” division, and eight teams in the “women’s” division.

At 7:00 pm on Saturday night the Saint Louis Bombers will be playing the Philadelphia RFC at the Sportport Soccer Complex. Both of these teams are Super League teams. (The Super League is comprised of the best 16 teams in the nation.) If you feel like staying for this, we can try to arrange rides so that you can stay.

Please think about bringing the following items to the game:
playing clothes
at least one change of clothes so you can stay dry
three or four pairs of socks
a hat, coat, gloves, long-underwear or anything else you need to stay warm
sunscreen (just in case)
food or money for food
beverages
music player or a book
a blanket
a crazy-creek chair
a plastic bag for muddy clothes
cell phone

We will likely have one a covered tent near the fields. The earlier we leave on Saturday morning, the closer to the fields it will be. In them, I will lay down some tarps. Please leave your muddy shoes and socks at the entrance to the tent when you are in them. Also, there will be A LOT of people at the fields, so we want to try and keep all of our belongings either in our cars or in the tent. There should always be at least one team member, mananger, or Principia student in the tent.
